India Accelerates Green Energy Push with New ₹75,000 Crore Renewable Power Project

Full News Article:

India has taken another major step toward becoming a global leader in clean energy with the announcement of a massive ₹75,000 crore renewable power project. The ambitious plan focuses on expanding solar and wind energy infrastructure across multiple states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

According to government officials, this project is expected to add nearly 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity over the next five years. The initiative is part of India’s broader commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Union Energy Ministry officials stated that the project will not only support environmental goals but also create over 1.5 lakh direct and indirect jobs in engineering, construction, and maintenance sectors. Large-scale solar parks and new offshore wind farms will be developed using advanced technology to improve efficiency and long-term output.

Experts believe this move will significantly strengthen India’s energy security at a time when global fuel prices remain volatile. By generating more power internally through renewable sources, India can reduce its reliance on imported coal, oil, and gas.

Environmental groups have welcomed the announcement, calling it a crucial milestone in the fight against climate change. However, they have also urged the government to ensure proper land acquisition, wildlife protection, and rehabilitation of affected communities.

The project is also expected to attract foreign investment as several global companies have already shown interest in partnering with Indian firms for technology and funding support.

With this latest initiative, India is signaling its strong commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future—one that balances economic growth with environmental responsibility.
